Connect your ChatGPT or Claude subscription

Connect your ChatGPT subscription to Codex agents, or your Claude subscription to Claude Code agents. Create a connection in Admin, then choose which compatible agents use it.

Connect in Admin

You need an Account owner or admin role and a supported provider subscription. Each agent's computer must be Sleeping or Paused when you assign the connection.

Each agent must use the matching runtime: Codex for ChatGPT, Claude Code for Claude. Claude agent creation and runtime selection currently use the CLI. Run socra agent create --help or socra agent update --help for runtime options. When switching runtimes, first pause the agent and unassign its previous connection.

An assigned agent uses the connection on its next session. Existing identity, permissions, and home files remain separate from the provider sign-in.

Sign in on one Codex agent's computer

A Codex agent can use its own ChatGPT sign-in instead of a shared connection. This sign-in applies to that agent. It still uses the ChatGPT account's usage allowance.

ChatGPT must allow device-code sign-in for the account you connect. Enable Enable device code sign-in for Codex, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word in the intended account’s ChatGPT Security Settings before starting. If you already started a code, select Cancel sign-in on the agent’s page and start sign-in again after enabling the setting.

If the agent already uses a shared connection, remove that assignment while the computer is sleeping or paused before starting this alternative. See Remove an agent from a connection.

1. Open the agent in Admin. If it is Paused, select Resume work under Computer before starting local sign-in. Resuming permits queued work to run.
2. Under AI, select Choose connection.
3. Select Sign in on this computer instead. Admin starts the agent's computer to prepare sign-in. Running time incurs Socra charges; see How Agent billing works.
4. Select Copy code, then Go to ChatGPT.
5. Select or sign in to the ChatGPT account with Codex access. When ChatGPT asks, enter the code from Admin.
6. Return to Admin and confirm Connected.
7. Follow Verify a task to check that the sign-in works.

Shared usage and credentials

Agents assigned to one connection share the provider account’s usage limits. Adding agents does not increase that allowance. The provider controls the allowance and reset times; its terms apply.

For Claude, the subscription token is available to the assigned agent process. Only assign agents you trust with that credential. ChatGPT refresh credentials stay in the Agent service.

Reconnect or remove a connection

If sign-in expires or is revoked, the connection shows Reconnect required. For a ChatGPT connection, sign in again on the connection's page in Admin. The agents can stay on the connection. For a Claude connection, first remove every agent from the connection. Then sign in again, and choose the connection on each agent again. Follow The connection shows Reconnect required. Remove all agent assignments before disconnecting or deleting a connection. Never change a running agent’s connection; wait for it to sleep or pause it first.
