# Update Channels

Use the installed Mac app to check for a Channels update. The updater downloads an available update before asking you to restart.

## Check for updates

1. Open **Socra Channels → Check for Updates…** from the macOS menu bar.
2. Review the update status. Select **Check for updates** if a check has not started.
3. When the update is ready, select **Restart now**.

Choose **Later** if you need to continue before restarting. The running version remains available until you install the update.

## Verify the update

After Channels reopens, return to **Check for Updates…** and review the status. A download still in progress has not finished installing.

## Recover from an update failure

If an error appears, preserve its text and retry the check. Your current version remains available if the update cannot complete. If the problem continues, contact [Socra support](https://support.socra.com) with your macOS version and the error text.
